Srinagar, 24 April: Farhan Kitab, President of the Joint Traders Association ( JTA) an amalgam of 14 markets of city centre issued a statement today highlighting concerns over the decreasing footfall in the markets of the city center. Kitab emphasized that the poor management of traffic and inadequate transport connectivity towards the city center have significantly impacted the sales of local shopkeepers.
In a statement issued to the Kashmir Media Watch, JTA underscored the critical role of the retail sector in fostering economic growth and generating employment opportunities within the community. Kitab called upon the city administration to prioritize and implement serious initiatives aimed at addressing the pressing issues affecting the retail industry.
“Efficient traffic management and improved transport connectivity are imperative to sustain the vibrancy of our city’s markets,” stated Farhan Kitab. “As vital contributors to the local economy, shopkeepers rely on consistent foot traffic to support their businesses. We urge the administration to take decisive action to alleviate these challenges and support the growth of the retail sector.”
