JAMMU: The members of Federation Chamber of Industries, Kashmir (FCIK) and Federation of Industries, Jammu (FIJ) jointly called on Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah here on Tuesday and presented him a memorandum of demands.
The meeting was attended by Political Advisor to the Chief Minister, Devender Singh Rana, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister, B. B. Vyas, Commissioner Secretary Power, Basharat Ahmad Dhar and other senior officers.
During the interaction the President of FCIK, Zahoor Ahmad and Chairman of FIJ, Anil Suri explained the demands presented in the memorandum and sought government help in strengthening the local industrial units in the State.
Matters relating to the marketing support to local enterprises in the field of manufacturing electrical equipments were discussed in detail in the meeting.
The Federations apprised the meeting that as many as 243 SSI units in the State in electrical equipments manufacturing field provide direct employment to 4860 local youth. They sought special package from the power development department to support the marketing of the goods prepared by these units.
The Chief Minister said that development of industrial sector in the State to give boost to the economy and generate job avenues for youth is focused area of the government. He said government has put in place various measures to strengthen the MSME sector and help its growth and development. “Whatever possible would be further done in this directionâ€, he added.
