ED Sudhir Gupta administers Integrity Pledge at CHQ
Srinagar, Oct 27: Reaffirming its commitment to transparency, accountability and ethical banking, J&K Bank today commenced Vigilance Awareness Week 2026 with an Integrity Pledge ceremony at its Corporate Headquarters. The observance centers on the theme “Probity for Prosperity”.
Executive Director Sudhir Gupta chaired the inaugural function and administered the pledge to the bank’s leadership – including Chief General Managers, General Managers, Deputy General Managers, AGMs and other senior officers present on the occadion. Divisional, Zonal, and Cluster heads, along with other staff members, also participated in the ceremony virtually.
Speaking on the occasion, Executive Director Sudhir Gupta said, “Public trust is the foundation of banking, and integrity is essential to preserving that trust as we grow. Our pursuit of sustainable growth must be supported by transparent processes, fair decisions and accountability at every level.”
“Preventive vigilance must be part of our everyday work. Every employee has a responsibility to safeguard the Bank’s resources, protect customers’ interests and ensure that our conduct reflects the confidence people place in us. Let this pledge translate into consistent action throughout the year,” he added.
Through the pledge, participants committed themselves to promoting ethical business practices, neither offering nor accepting bribes, and upholding corporate governance based on transparency, accountability and fairness. The pledge also emphasised adherence to relevant laws and compliance mechanisms, employee awareness of ethical responsibilities, grievance redressal and whistle-blower mechanisms for reporting fraudulent activities, besides protecting the rights and interests of stakeholders and society at large.
Earlier, Chief Vigilance Officer Bansi Lal Saini stressed that building an organization-wide culture of vigilance relies on the small, daily decisions of employees. These actions, he noted, are vital to deepening stakeholder trust in the institution. He urged participants to adopt three core principles: stay alert to their surroundings, take responsibility for their actions, and speak up when something goes wrong.
The function concluded with a vote of thanks by General Manager (Vigilance) Hafeeza Rahim. “Our pledge must guide us throughout the year. By doing our work honestly and responsibly, we serve our customers better, protect our Bank and contribute meaningfully to its continued progress”, she said.
Outlining the activities planned within the organization during the week, she said that the Integrity Pledge would reinforce individual commitment, while the online quiz and essay competition would deepen awareness, help identify knowledge gaps and encourage ideas for improving ethical practices at the workplace.
