Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Cabinet fully backed Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, who has ordered a judicial probe into the alleged custodial death of a National Conference (NC) activist Mohammad Yousuf Shah on September 30.
Senior Cabinet Minister from Congress Taj Mohiuddin said that immediately after the death of Shah, a cabinet meeting was called by the Chief Minister.
He said Mr Abdullah informed the cabinet the details of the incident.
Later, Chief Minister took into confidence the cabinet about ordering of a judicial probe by a sitting judge of the Jammu and Kashmir High Court, Mr Mohiuddin said.
“We have sent a request to Chief Justice to appoint a sitting judge to inquire into the incident,” he said adding the cabinet fully backs the decision of the Chief Minister.
Mr Mohiuddin said the cabinet fully believed that the Chief Minister was saying the truth and has nothing to hide.
