J&K Bank football team lifts 11th Christmas Gold Cup

Srinagar, Jan 18(KMW): J&K Bank football team has emerged champions of the 11th Christmas Gold Cup Football Tournament 2017-18. The bank’s team defeated PDC X1 in the final match played at GGM Science College Ground.

Congratulating the Bank team for its spectacular win despite absence of seniors who are away for the Santosh Trophy, Chairman and CEO Parvez Ahmed said: “The news of your achievement has come as a great delight to all of us in the JK Bank Family. All your hard work, commitment and practice has paid off. The composure and patience you have displayed during the closely fought final have bearings of the values of the JK Bank as an institution.”

The victory he added was special as the players got little time for practice being involved in the routine banking operations post demonetization when the bank deployed all its human resources for providing hassle free service to the people of the state.

The Chairman further stated: “It is a matter of great pride for J&K Bank family that our Football team has added one more feather and have continued its last year’s performance by winning this prestigious Gold Cup. I fervently hope they will achieve more such feats in future as well.”

The chairman once again emphasized on maintaining on field or off the field discipline. “You should conduct yourselves in such manner that enhances image and reputation of the Bank. You must ensure highest standards of professionalism in the sport”, he said while addressing to its football team members.

Notably, the Bank team won the match in Tie Breaker by 3-2 Adnan,Rohit Kalsotra and Prem scored for the Bank. The State Vice President BJP, Yudhvir Sethi was chief guest on the occasion, while as J&K Bank Zonal Head, Sunil Gupta, was guest of honour.

It is worth mentioning that the tournament was organized by All J&K Christian Association Jammu. 26 teams participated in the tournament including Forest X1,SRTC X1, two local clubs from Anantnag, PDC X1 and J&K Bank.

Pertinently during the year, the senior football team of the bank has won prestigious Premier Division Mufti Mohammad Sayed Memorial Football Tournament, Police Martyrs Football Tournament organized by J&K Police Department winning a trophy and Rs 1 lac cash prize.

Kashmir Football Academy of the bank won Super Division Mufti Mohammad Sayed Memorial Tournament organized by JKFA while as Jammu football academy of the bank won two football events of Vishal Heer Memorial Football Tournament and B Division Football Tournament 2017.
