J&K Bank conducts financial literacy camps across valley

Srinagar: In order to encourage and develop financial awareness at grass root level among the people in rural areas, J&K Bank organised many camps across the valley during last fortnight.
Fin lit camp in Budgam
The Bank’s FLCC centre Budgam conducted a financial literacy camp at village Arizal.
The camp was attended by a large gathering which represented various sections of society who were informed about different financial products and credit schemes available with financial institutions.
Addressing the gathering, Lead District Manager Budgam Mohammad Yaqoob emphasized urged participants to avail the credit facility from the Banks sponsored by various government agencies.
Speaking on the occasion Facilitator FLCC Budgam A H Rafiqi briefed the audience about various financial Products, their benefits coupled with other facilities available at the Bank meant for improvement of their living conditions.
The participants were apprised about the loan facilities especially for higher education of youth to facilitate best career opportunities to them.
In addition they were educated about other schemes like opening of No-frill account, SB-Ujala and DRI scheme specially designed for the under privileged sections of the society living below poverty line.
Riyaz Ahmad Head B.U Arizal was also present on the occasion.
The participants appreciated the efforts of the Bank.
Awareness camps in Kupwara
The Bank’s Cluster Office Kupwara organized awareness camps at Zirhama (Harai) & Chowkibal, which were attended by large gatherings of people from the respective areas.
Cluster Head (North) Kupwara Fayaz Ahmad Sidiqui inaugurated the camp in presence of Heads B.U’s Harai & Chowkibal.
Speaking at the camp, he said that the Bank was committed to financially empower every section of the society irrespective of their status and location.
He educated the gathering about different credit and deposit schemes of the bank.
Facilitator FLCC Kupwara Mohammad Maqbool Shah thanked the participants for attending the camps and assured them of total support from the Bank in the improvement of their financial conditions.
Fin lit camp in Baramulla
The Bank’s FLCC centre Baramulla held a financial literacy camp at Government High School Dhobiwan in Block Kunzer.
People from villages like Tarahama, Goigam, Waripora and Dhobiwan including teachers, students and local Sarpanches attended the Camp.
The Facilitator FLCC Baramulla explained the purpose of FLCC centres at district levels was to make people aware and informed about the basic financial products available to them for progress and development.
He also spoke about the rights of customers under fair lending practices code and responsibilities of customers by way of proper end-use of funds and timely repayment of bank loans to enable the recycling of funds for the development and prosperity of everyone.
Zonal Coordinator Kashmir (North) informed the audience about the Kissan Credit Card scheme in detail.
He deliberated upon all the aspects of the scheme from eligibility, project cost, security, interest subvention and renewal.
He also threw light on Apple scheme, education loan scheme, loans to artisans and deliberated upon the savings schemes of J&K Bank, importance of savings and budgeting.
Mehandi deposit scheme and childcare deposit schemes were also discussed.
Head B.U J&K Grameen Bank Dhobiwan gave a brief about various products of bank. He spoke about the achievements of the branch in KCC and other income generating activities financed in the area.
Two representatives from the audience also spoke about various difficulties faced by the people of the area at banks and other institutions which were assured to be taken care of by the officers from the Banks.
The seminar ended with the vote of thanks.
FLCC Camp in Pulwama
The Bank’s FLCC centre Pulwama organised an awareness camp at Batagund, Tral in Pulwama.
A large number of locals along with those from adjoining villages participated in the awareness camp.
Facilitator FLCC Pulwama discussed the benefits of keeping savings with the banks and impressed upon the participants that in view of government’s Direct Cash transfer (DCT) initiative, every family in rural area should have at least one Savings account with a bank for hassle free transfer of money.
Lead District Manager, G R Bhat informed the participants that the banks have started the smart card distribution to extend banking facilities to rural customers at their door places.
Nearly 100 smart cards of J&K bank were distributed amongst the deserving beneficiaries of the area.
The initiative was appreciated by the local residents.
Awareness camp in Anantnag
Also the Bank’s FLCC centre Anantnag conducted a financial awareness program at Community Hall in Model Village Sagam, Kokernag.
A good number of people participated in the camp including students.
Facilitator FLCC G R Kumar gave a detailed overview of the Bank’s financial products and urged youth to avail the benefits of different schemes designed to provide them with employment opportunities.
He advised the gathering for opening the accounts in the bank and make saving a habit for a better future. He explained the Bank’s Education Finance scheme in detail to the students present on the occasion.
