Srinagar, Apr 9 (KMW): At a highly prestigious and well attended Mehjoor Day function at Town hall Budgam, which was presided over by Khwaja Farooq Renzushah Chairman of Kashmir Society, the contribution of Mehjoor in literature and poetry was highlighted.
According to a statement issued to KMW, the function was organized by Cultural, Educational and Environmental Organization in association with Oxford Society and other prestigious Organizations. The chairman, Sheikh Altaf of CEEO in his welcome address described the importance of the program as Mehjoor spent his maximum time in Budgam when he was in revenue services in Arigam, Draigam, Bargah, Chaar-e-Sharif and other places. This function was exclusively meant to pay tributes to Mehjoor from the entire population of Kashmir particularly from the people of Budgam District.
Khwaja Renzushah released a book entitled “Our Heritage†written by Ghulam Mohiuddin Ajeez. The prominent personalities; Ghulam Mohammad Mir Lasjan, Mohammad Maqbool , Dr Ali Mohammad Mir, Executive Director Voluntary health Organization, Amrindar Singh, Neelam Qureshi and Aijaz were given Khilat Mehjoor Award, while as best theatre awards were given to the Music group Bhagat Theatre Yachgam, Aqib and Mohammad Ismail Bhat of Sufiana group of Budgam.
While speaking on the occasion Khwaja Farooq Renzushah said that J&K is a name of prestigious civilization and its galaxy is full of glittering stars that have illuminated the entire world with high valued literature and poetry.
He said Mehjoor on one way resisted atrocities of Autocratic rule through his poetic expression and on the other hand spread the message of love and brotherhood. He said that in the present dark world of hate there is a need to promote literature of love and unity. He added that he believes in the revolution of love and once people will start adhering love it will automatically get strengthened. KMW)
