Srinagar, Apr 9 (KMW): National Conference Additional General Secretary, Dr. Sheikh Mustafa Kamal has said that National Conference is a people’s movement that emerged 83 years ago when it stood up to fight against autocracy and feudalism. National Conference has rendered innumerable sacrifices to bring about a socio-political and economic change in J&K including the historic agrarian reforms heralded by Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah.
According to a statement issued to KMW, Dr. Kamal said that National Conference is in the hearts of the people of J&K and despite repeated and frequent conspiracies against this institution of reform, National Conference has survived, grown and sustained as a party that does not treat power as an end in itself but as an effective tool to bring about change and reform in the system.
Speaking on the occasion Dr. Kamal said that PDP was one of the many chapters of sabotage unleashed on the people of J&K by covert interests who aim at fragmenting the identity, voice and representation of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. It is this party that ran away from its responsibilities in 2008 after being guilty of transferring land to the Shrine Board.
Dr. Kamal said that till yesterday PDP leaders were praising Narendra Modi and equating him with Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s record viz-a-viz Kashmir. PDP actually covertly and unofficially ran a sustained campaign in favor of Narendra Modi in J&K by trying to convince the people that an NDA government would be a better option for J&K than a UPA government. These lies, dramas and canards are the hallmarks of PDP’s politics.
Stating that the BJP manifesto and its communal and anti-J&K points should embarrass PDP and its leaders who have praied Modi, Dr. Kamal said that the BJP-PDP nexus stood exposed beyond any reasonable doubt and the people of this State would give a resounding answer to this unholy alliance of convenience in the coming Parliamentary Elections. Now, putting a stone on his heart, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed has forced his instincts in issuing a statement condemning BJP’s call for the abrogation of Article 370. Where was Mufti Sahab’s concern for Article 370 till now, especially when he has himself been a part of various conspiracies to dilute the special status of this State? (KMW).
