‘J&K registers 3rd consecutive win; Asif scores maiden century’

Srinagar: J&K today registered 3rd consecutive win by defeating Bihar by 105 and Odisha by 49 runs in the second day of ongoing 27th All India Postal Cricket Tournament at Srinagar. In other four matches Andhra Pradesh beat Gujrat by 47 runs; West Bengal beat Delhi by 29 runs while Rajasthan lost both its matches played against Tamil Nadu and Uttar Pradesh.
In the first match played between J&K and Bihar today at Kashmir University J&K won the toss and decided to bat. With the help of 100 unbeaten by Asif and 66 by Ubair J&K scored 10 runs per over and gave a target of 201 to Bihar in the prescribed 20 over after the loss of 3 wickets. Roshan took 2 and Madhav took one wicket for Bihar.
Chasing the mammoth target of 201 Bihar lost early wickets and entire team managed to score only 95 runs with seven wickets down. Anil Khanna from J&K bowled extremely well and clinched 4 wickets making the task of Bihar extremely difficult. With Madav on 40 not out and Bihar finally managed to score only 95 runs. Asif from J&K was awarded man of the match for his unbeaten 100.
In the second match of J&K played with Odisha in the evening session J&K gave target of 149. After winning the toss J&K scored 148 for 4 with Ubair scoring 39, Manzoor 28 and Asif 26 runs. C H Saptagri from Odihsa took three wickets. After getting the target of 149 Odisha lost wickets in early overs and the entire team scored only 99 runs with the loss of 8 wickets. Jagannath and Rakesh from Odisha scored 24 runs each. Ubair, Asif, Anil Khanna and Sandeep from J&K took two wickets each. Ubair of J&K declared man of the match for his 39 runs and two wickets.
In other matches Andra Pradesh beat Gujrat by 47 runs at Islamia College. Batting first after winning the toss Andra Pradesh scored 171 runs after the loss of 3 wickets. Ajay Kumar from Andra scored 47 runs. Chasing the target of 172 runs Gujrat was bowled out for 124 in 17.1 overs. M Suresh from Andra bagged 5 wickets and declared Man of the Match.
In another match played at Islamic College West Bengal beat Delhi by 20 runs. After winning the toss Delhi decided to field but failed to contain the innings of West Bengal which scored 172 runs for the loss of 4 wickets. Chasing the target of 173 Delhi scored only 143 runs. S Datta from West Bengal was awarded man of the match.
Rajasthan today played two matches with Tamil Nadu and Uttar Pradesh but lost both of the matches played in the morning and in evening session. In morning session Tamil Nadu won the toss and invited Rajasthan for batting. The Rajasthan team managed to score only 87 runs after the loss of 7 wickets in the allotted 20 overs with Naresh scoring 42 runs. Tamil Nadu achieved the target the target in 14 overs for the loss of 1 wicket. Santosh Kumar from Tamil Nadu scored 41 not out and Prabhu 21 not out. Santosh Kumar from Tamil Nadu awarded Man of the Match.
In the evening session Rajasthan clashed with Uttar Pradesh but also the evening game. Batting first after winning the toss Rajasthan scored 119 runs for the loss of 5 wickets. Naresh from Rajasthan scored 67 runs while Shashikant score 37 runs where as Jaidev and Abhishek from Uttar Pradesh took two wickets each. However, Uttar Pradesh successfully achieved the target in 18.3 over for the loss 3 wickets. Ankit Tiwari was declared man of the match for his 52 unbeaten. From Rajasthan side Abdul Aziz and Naresh took two and one wicket each respectively.
As per tomorrow fixture Himachal will meet Bihar, Assam- Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal-Kerala in the morning session while in evening session Himachal will clash with Odisha, Delhi with Kerala and Tamil Nadu with Uttar Pradesh The matches will be played at Kashmir University and Islamia College.
