Infiltration to start in next few days: Army

Srinagar: Army on Friday claimed that the infiltration attempts by militants from across the line of control would ‘commence’ in next few days with the melting of the snow on mountains in Kashmir Valley.
Speaking to reporters on sidelines of a blood donation camp here, Syed Aatta Hasnain, general officer commanding, 15 corps said situation in Kashmir cannot be normal “as the infrastructure and intent across the border is alive as also their over ground network in the valley.”  “With the melting of snow, infiltration bids are likely to commence in the next few days, but we are prepared for it,” he said.
He reiterated that this year for army is the ‘Year of the Kashmiri Awaam’. ‘We are donating blood not only for the negativities like blasts but also victims of accidents and criminal activities,” he added.
Earlier, troopers of JAKLI, state personnel resourced Infantry Regiment of the Army, donated blood at a camp in Rangreth.
Meanwhile, Army and police reviewed security situation in a meeting at Army’s Romeo Force headquarters.
A statement here said that the meeting chaired by the Major General KAS Bhullar, General Officer Commanding was attended by RK Yadav, DIG Police Rajouri and Poonch Range, Additional Deputy Commissioners and Senior Superintendents of Police of Rajouri and Poonch districts and representatives of various security and intelligence agencies.
While addressing the meeting, the General Officer Commanding stressed on the need of jointness in intelligence sharing by fastest means between police and army.
The statement said that the participants expressed views on improving the prevailing security situation and the measures to be adopted in ensuring foolproof security during the ensuing Panchayat Elections.
