Infiltration bid foild, 4 millitants killed: Army

Srinagar: The army today foiled an infiltration bid by militants in the Keran Sector killing four militants while the search operation is on to trace the other militants who were the part of infiltrators group.

PRO Defence J. Barar told that at around 1:30 during the intervening night of 8th and 9th November, militants in Hunuman Top Keran Sector tried to infiltrate.
“Army challenged the infiltrators who in return opened fire on Army. Army reiterated and opened fire on infiltrators killing four militants wherein some of the militants succeeded in running away from the spot”, he said
SP Kupwara while confirming the infiltration bid and killing of four militants said that the search operation is on to trace the rest of militants who run away from the spot.
“An infiltration bid was foiled by alert security forces on the Line of Control (LOC) in Keran Sector, near Hanuman Top, wherein millitants who were trying to sneak inside Indian Territory at 1:30 A.M. on Thursday night with huge quantity of arms to target innocent civilians and security forces were killed. During this operation, four heavily armed militants were killed and huge quantity of war like stores were recovered which included five AK-47 Rifles”, the army spokesperson said in a statement.
“This is a desperate attempt to ensure maximum infiltration by the other side, before the traditional routes of infiltration close due to snow. The Indian Army will ensure that none of these efforts succeed.” Lt Col JS Brar, Defence Spokesperson said in Srinagar.
