SRINAGAR, JULY 30: Ambassador of India to Oman, Indra Mani Pandey, called on the J&K Chief Minister, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, here this morning.
During the meeting, the envoy briefed the Chief Minister about the Ministry of External Affairs’ new initiative of assigning Indian ambassadors two individual states to be promoted in the country of their posting.
The Indian Ambassador has chosen J&K for promotion in the Gulf state of Oman. He is expected to meet Chief Secretary later to frame modalities for increasing footfall of tourists from Oman to J&K and promoting export of famed handicraft products to the Gulf nation.
The Chief Minister observed that Middle East countries hold great potential for export of handicraft products as well as flow of tourists to J&K for which the State Government will extend all facilities to strengthen the linkage.
The MEA has created a separate wing headed by a Joint Secretary that will work to promote different states of the country through its consulates all over the world.
