New Delhi: The country today paid homage to the martyrs of terror attack of November 26, 2008, on Mumbai and called upon Pakistan to bring the perpetrators of the crime to speedy justice.
In a message on the third anniversary of the attack, External Affairs Minister SM Krishna said, ”no cause can justify the use of terrorism for attainment of goals, whatsoever they may be !” He also emphasised that there could not be a selective fight against terror, which had to be fought comprehensively and eradicated in all its forms. The use of terrorism as an instrument of state policy had no place in today’s world and is self destructive, he said. ”I once again call on our neighbor to bring the perpetrators of the crime to speedy justice,” said Mr Krishna. He sought to underscore that issues had to be resolved through a peaceful dialogue in an atmosphere free from terror and violence. Mr Krishna stressed that India was committed to having a peaceful, friendly and cooperative relationship with all itsneighbours for progress and prosperity in the region and called upon all the countries in the region to join in this endeavour of building a better future for their peoples. ”I join my countrymen in paying respectful homage to the innocent men, women and children whose lives were most tragically snuffed out by the inhuman act of terrorism, inspired and carried out from across our borders, three years ago, on this day, in Mumbai. We also salute the courage and fortitude of the families who lost their loved ones in that senseless act of violence,” he said.
