INDIA to form Govt on June 4: AICC chief

Shimla, May 25 All India Congress Committee (AICC) president, Mallikarjun Kharge announced on Saturday that INDIA bloc will form next government at the Centre on June four.
Addressing a press conference at party office here, he stated that there are clear indications of widespread dissatisfaction with the Narendra Modi government, accusing it of misusing central agencies to suppress the opposition.
Campaigning for Congress candidate Vinod Sultanpuri, he asserted that Modi is likely to lose upcoming Lok Sabha election.
He criticised Modi for making divisive statements during his rallies, accusing the opposition of attempting to undermine reservations and amend the Constitution, which he claimed were falsehoods.
The AICC chief emphasised that a prime minister should act as a statesman, rather than dividing people along lines of religion, caste, and region.
He highlighted the Modi government’s failure to fill numerous vacancies for SC / OBC positions over past decade, suggesting that recent promises to address these issues are mere vote-garnering tactics.
He pointed out Modi’s unfulfilled promises to Himachal Pradesh, including commitments to reduce import duties on apples, establish fruit processing plants and create jobs for the youth.
He criticised the central government for ignoring the state’s request for Rs 9,900 crore to address monsoon devastation.
Accusing BJP of destabilising stable governments, Kharge cited examples of Himachal Pradesh, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Goa, Madhya Pradesh and Manipur.
He alleged that BJP uses central agencies like Enforcement Directorate, CBI and Income-Tax to threaten and topple opposition-led governments, mentioning the case of Hemant Soren, who faced ED action after refusing to join BJP.
The AICC chief accused BJP of hypocrisy, noting that several opposition leaders accused of corruption joined BJP and were subsequently exonerated.
He condemned Modi for creating divisions among people while publicly showing reverence for rivers and deities.
He also criticised Modi’s attempts to instill fear, asserting that it is the BJP government that has targeted minorities with bulldozer policies.
Highlighting Congress’ commitment to job creation and social welfare, he contrasted it with Modi’s failure to deliver on job promises.
He reaffirmed Congress’ pledge to increase MNREGA wages to Rs 400 per day and fulfil other guarantees, referring to the successful UPA government post-2009 as evidence of Congress’ capability.
He called for transparency from the Election Commission of India (ECI), demanding publication of a detailed voting data online.
Kharge concluded by expressing confidence in INDIA bloc’s ability to form a stable government.
