Kargil, Dec 19: In-charge Sub Divisional Magistrate, Zanskar, Mohd Hassan (Tehsildar), chaired a meeting today at Tourist Dak Bungalow in Padum to discuss arrangements for the celebration of Christmas, New Year and Losar in the Subdivision.

The meeting was attended by Station House Officer, Block Medical Officer, Tourist Officer, representatives PW/R&B, PHE, ARC, Electric, Mechanical, and president Zanskar Buddhist Association.

While welcoming the officers, officials, and the President of ZBA, the chairperson urged the concerned officers to ensure the provision of all necessary essentials to the general public, so they can celebrate the annual function without any difficulty.

He also directed officials to conduct market inspections during the event to prevent shopkeepers from selling substandard or expired items for their benefits.

President ZBA raised the issue of Nimo-Padum-Darcha (NPD) road to open for vehicular movement without any disturbance, as there are many students, pilgrimages to visit their home to celebrate the Losar festival with their near and dears, and requested the higher authority to take up the matter with Administration of Lhahul and Spiti District to continue the traffic movement from Padum to Munali, as the road is in good condition.

After threadbare discussion the chairperson directed the CA&PD Department to issue the monthly scale ration well in time. He also directed the ARC to keep every essential item at their store and also forward a requisition of vegetable and table eggs for Losar festival to DRC Kargil.
