Srinagar: Chief Patron Jammu Kashmir Mahaz-e-Azadi (MeA) Muhammad Azam Inqilabi Monday appealed the UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon to take “concrete steps†for implementation of 13 August 1948 UN resolution on Kashmir. 
In a statement issued here, Inqilabi said the resolution guarantees Kashmiris stake as prime party to the dispute.
“This resolution promises us unfettered and unconditional right of self-determination,†he said.
He deplored that UN has so far failed to take any step towards fulfilling its resolutions in Kashmir.
On convening of extraordinary summit of Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) by King Abdullah, Custodian of two Holy Mosques, to be held on August 14-15 in Makkah Inqilabi expressed happiness saying “We are aware in what difficult situation this summit has been convened.â€
MeA patron said the Muslim World is passing through a difficult phase.
“In Afghanistan imperialists are still killing innocent people. Zionist Israel continues to make life harder for Palestinians. Muslims continue to get persecuted in Myanmar and same is happening in Assam. Kashmir continues to be a prison for its inhabitants due to India’s cruel policies,†he said.
Commenting on August 2008 unrest he said people protested en-mass against the economic blockade of valley enforced by communal frenzy people in Jammu.
“On 11 August, 2008 sea of people lead by Sheikh Aziz marched towards Uri in a bid to demolish the Berlin Wall (the Loc) and to protest against the economic blockade of valley but they were fired upon in which Sheikh Aziz and nearly a dozen people achieved martyrdom,†Inqilabi said.
He said there sacrifices invigorated the pro-freedom sentiment and Kashmir saw million-plus march in Lal chowk and Eidgah.
MeA patron said the 72 martyrs of August 2008 gave the undying message like 72 martyrs of Karbala that “Not to bow before the oppression even if one had to offer his life.â€
He condemned the government action to thwart various programs of resistance leaders on 11 August called in the memory of Sheikh Aziz and August 2008 martyrs by locking them in houses and jails.
Inqilabi said people in our “base camp†are busy in their trade and business activities. “In this situation Pakistan’s call to continue moral and diplomatic support to Kashmiris is being taken as just rhetoric here.â€
“Muslim countries should sever trade and economic relations with India. This is how India can be compelled to abandon its obduracy and intransigence vis-à -vis Kashmir,†the press statement reads. (KMW News)Â
