SRINAGAR: The People’s Political Party (PPP) Engineer Hilal Ahmad War has lamented the lack of justice to the Shopian Double rape and murder victims on the eve of third anniversary of this gruesome act. Mr. War also lambasted the Hurriyat factions and Bar Association for failing to forcefully project the ‘cause’ of Shopian Rape & Murder victims.
Pertinently, on the fateful evening of 29th May two young females , Aasiya (17 Years) and Nelofar (22 years) were raped and murdered by the Indian security Forces. The criminals who committed this heinous crimes in uniform were not brought to justice till date .It is a clear cut case of paralysis of justice systemâ€, said Mr. War.
The both factions of Hurriyat Conference and High Court Bar association failed miserably to provide any solace to victims as they went into slumber quickly and did not keep up the tempo to secure justice for the victimsâ€. He said that Mass uprisings of 2008 and 2010 were called by those who claim as champions of Kashmir Case and cause. The failure of these two mass movements is a slur on their face. PPP Chief, while paying tributes to Shopian victims demanded that the culprits be brought to book.
Mr. War stated –“The lack of justice in this gruesome act depicts the sorry state of affairs in our part of the world as proven by the sequences of this event. Firstly, the Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir also continuously changed statements sometimes terming it rape sometimes murder and sometimes just drowned. After probing a little the authority found that it was done by some police officials and they hushed up the case. The people of Shopian went on a long agitation of 47 days but no result came out. Authorities ruled out the statements of people. The doctors that confirmed Rape and Murder were suspended. The police officers who were under scanner were transferred to other districts. Police was banned to come on streets of Shopian nearly for one year. Three years have passed and we are still waiting for justice. We only demand the punishment to those police officers who are accused in the case. Our breaths will last but our hopes will not. (KMW NEWS)
