Srinagar: The spokesperson of Islamic Movement warned hotel and restaurant owners of dire consequences in case they continue to propagate immorality.
“Hotels and restaurants in Kashmir Valley have become the hub of immoral activities and we warn the owners to restrain themselves and in case they continue to support and harbor immorality, they will pay for it,†Mukhtar said.
Gunmen on Friday shot dead a retired Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) in Batamaloo area of Srinagar.
Police sources said retired DSP Abdul Hamid Bhat of Moominabad, Batamaloo offered Friday prayers at Masjid Bilaliya.
“When he came out of the mosque, he was fired from point blank range by militants from assault rifles. He received five bullets, which caused his on spot death,†they said.
Meanwhile militant outfit Islamic Movement claimed responsibility, “the slain ex-police officer allegedly played anti-movement role during 2010 unrest and he, according to the spokesperson, was responsible for the killing of a foreign militantâ€. IM spokesman Omar Mukhtar told a local news agency. “Abdul Hamid Bhat aka Hamid Qabza was involved in the killing of a foreign militant when he was the Station House Officer during the year 1999. He was anti-movement and let loose a reign of terror among people during 2010 unrest in Jammu and Kashmir,†spokesperson of the militant outfit claimed.
“Anyone who indulges in anti-militant and anti-movement activities will not be spared. Abdul Hamid paid for his sins,†Mukhtar said.
Islamic Movement also appealed the both factions of Hurriyat Conference to take the movement to its logical end.
“We appeal both factions of Hurriyat to come forward and lead the ongoing movement. However, no one will be allowed to play with the sentiments of the people. There is no place for compromises and anyone who will bring a slur on the name of Kashmir Movement will be dealt severely,†Mukhtar warned.
He said that nobody, even Hurriyat leaders, will be allowed to sabotage the ongoing movement.
