Srinagar: The Army on Thursday said it was hopeful that 2012 would prove to be ‘year of peace’ for Jammu and Kashmir.
According to a spokesman, while speaking during the 96th Raising Day function of Chinar Corps, General Officer Commading, Lieutenant General SA Hasnain, said he was hopeful that ,like 2011, “the year 2012 would be a year of peace in the Valley, where the Army would stand shoulder to shoulder with the local people in all its endeavors.â€
“He exhorted upon all to maintain the highest levels of operational readiness, while rededicating themselves towards achieving their goals,†the spokesman said.
“Notwithstanding the operational commitments, the troops of Chinar Corps with the whole hearted support of the people and in conjunction with the State Administration, has undertaken development projects in the Valley, through its ‘Sadhbhavana’ schemes and initiatives towards ameliorating the general condition of the people and alleviating their problems,†the spokesman further said.
