Hilal War Arrested to Foil Joint Resistance Sit-In

Srinagar: March 13(KMW): A heavy contingent of J&K Police headed by SHO, Police Station, Maisuma cordoned off the War Lane of Maisuma locality immediately after Fajjar (morning prayers) and arrested the All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC), senior leader and People’s Political Party (PPP) Chief, Engineer Hilal Ahmed War from his residence. He has been lodged in Police Station Maisuma,” the spokesman said.
War’s arrest is seen as a preventive measure by the State police to foil Monday’s scheduled sit-in cum-seminar announced by united resistance leadership against oppression unleashed on Kashmiri prisoners.
A party spokesperson has condemned his arrest in strong words saying it amounted to State oppression and a denial of right to expression. “This highhandedness of the State shows the times we are living in. If one is not even allowed to demonstrate peacefully, it leaves a big void for violent demonstrations,” said the PPP Spokesman.
