Hardcore militant Shah Din among 2 killed in Kishtwar

Jammu: In a major breakthrough, security forces today gunned down two hardcore militants of Hizb-ul-Mujahideen outfit including wanted militant Shah Din Khandey in mountainous Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir.

“Based on a tip-off regarding movement of militants, troops of 17 Rashtriya Rifles and police this morning launched operation in remote Dool area of Kishtwar district,” official spokesman here told.

They said on seeing the patrol party, the militants fired at them, which was retaliated and the encounter started.

“During an hour-long battle, both the militants were killed,” they said, adding that the slain militants were identified as Shah Din Khandey and his associate Mohammad Rafi.

“Troops recovered one Ak-47 and a pistol from them,” sources said, adding that the search operation was in progress at encounter site. (KMW NEWS)
