Srinagar: The arrangements for the annual Amarnath pilgrimage-2012 were discussed by Jammu and Kashmir Governor N N Vohra, who also took stock of the special sanitation drive, launched after the conclusion of the yatra 2011.
Officials said here today that Mr Vohra, who is also chairman of the Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB), visited the Holy cave shrine and other camp locations on both traditional Pahalgam and shortest Baltal routes.
He reviewed the status of the special sanitation drive which he had directed to be carried out to clean up the entire yatra area, immediately after the conclusion of this year’s pilgrimage on August 13.
He utilised this visit to also discuss the projected arrangements at the Base Camps and Camps all along both the tracks for the next year’s pilgrimage.
The Governor who was accompanied by R K Goyal Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Board, spent about an hour at the Holy Cave and was pleased to find the entire Shrine area and the track from Sangam visibly clean.
While discussing the camp-wise facilities to be provided for Yatra-2012, Mr Vohra reiterated the need for all required planning to be completed well in advance of the snow melt next summer.
He asked the CEO to ensure that the facilities in the Holy Cave area were suitably upgraded for yatra-2012.
Mr Vohra had an extensive inspection of the Baltal Base Camp and thereafter inspected the entire area upto Domel, particularly to review results of the post-Yatra special sanitation drive.
