New Delhi: The Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh today said that government is ready to discuss any issue with the Opposition in Parliament. Dr. Singh was talking to media after attending the all party meeting convened by the Lok Sabha Speaker Mrs. Meira Kumar on the eve of Budget Session in New Delhi. He said that he looks forward to a fruitful and productive Budget Session of Parliament.
Talking to media Meira Kumar said that the government and opposition is still seriously discussing the issue of constituting a Joint Parliamentary Committee on 2 G Issue. She said when the matter will come before her then she will decide. She said that the decision on the terms of reference will be taken only after the issue is sorted out. The Speaker said Leaders of the all parties are keen to run parliament smoothly.
The senior BJP leader and Deputy Leader in Lok Sabha Mr. Gopinath Munde said that if government wanted to run the Parliament smoothly, they should concede the opposition’s demand of JPC on Tuesday. He said that his party will raise the issues like price rise, Commonwealth Games, Adarsh and other scams and demand the discussion on these issues.
The all party meeting was attended by Leader of the House in Lok Sabha Mr. Pranab Mukherjee, Parliamentary Affairs Minister, Mr. Pawan Kumar Bansal, Parliamentary Affairs minister of State Mr. Ashwani Kumar and V. Narayansamy, Senior BJP Leader Mr. L K Advani, Deputy Leaders of BJP in Lok Sabha Mr. Gopinath Munde, JDU leader Ram Sundar Das, CPI Leader Grudas Dasgupta TMC leader Mr. Sudip Bandhopadhya, SP leader Mr. Revti Raman Singh , TDP leader N. Nageswar Rao.
The budget session of Parliament begins tomorrow with the address by resident Pratibha Devisingh Patil to a joint sitting of the two houses. AIR parliamentary correspondent reports that the session is expected to be stormy with a big agenda of government business. The rail budget and the economic survey is to be presented on the 25th of this month and the general budget on the 28th.
