JAMMU: For providing adequate drinking water facilities to Dharp and Dharp Kothey SC basti, Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation Mr. Raman Bhalla has said Government has earmarked Rs. 1.49 crore under Water Supply Scheme Dharp for digging of 10000 gallon discharge capacity deep drill tube well, 30000 gallon storage capacity Over Head Tank besides laying of water supply in Dharp and SC basti Dharp Kothey.
This was stated by the Minister while addressing a large gathering at village Dharp after laying foundation of water supply pipes work, here today.
Mr. Bhalla said after commissioning of 10,000 gallon discharge capacity tube well in the area, the drinking water supply in the entire village would be improved to a large extent. He said focus of the Government is to develop all the rural areas at par with urban pockets by providing all basic amenities like better roads, safe drinking water, electricity, hospitals, schools, colleges besides lanes and drains. He said Government has launched number of welfare schemes to upgrade the living standard of the ruralities which included Indira Awas Yojna, PMGSY, MGNREGA etc. He asked the people to avail the benefits of such type of schemes.
Regarding relief under State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF), the Minister asked the flood affected people of the village to approach the revenue officers for relief adding that Government has earmarked Rs. 3 crore each for both the regions for immediate disbursement of relief according to norms.
Responding to the villagers demands, Mr. Bhalla asked the R&B engineers to prepare estimates for construction of left out lanes, drains and cremation ground in the village and submit the same for funding so that the construction works could be started. He said Government has approved Rs. 559.18 lakh for construction of 11-km long Dharp-Kunjwani approach road adding the work is under progress on war-footing. The blacktopping and digging of nallah works would be started after completing the digging work for laying of water supply pipes in the village. For making kacchi irrigation channel as Pacci channel, he said Government has earmarked Rs. 4 lakh adding instructions were issued to executing agency to immediately start the project.
The Minister said Government has earmarked Rs. 20 lakh for construction of steel bridge over canal which would provide road connectivity to the village with Kunjwani link road.
Regarding installation of electric poles in the peripheries of the village, he asked PDD to install 70 poles in the uncovered areas of the village so that quality power supply could be supplied to the residents.
For construction of crates on the embankments of Balol nallah and approach road to Gujjar basti in Dharp, the Minister said the restoration project of embankments and road are under progress and would be completed within stipulated time frame. He asked the Flood Control department to put their sincere efforts in restoring the breach portion of the embankments of the Balol nallah.
Later, at Gandhi Nagar, Mr. Bhalla also attended a function organised in the memory of 27th death anniversary of Late Prime Minister Smt. Indira Gandhi.
While paying tributes to Late Prime Minister, the Minister said that the martyrdom of Indira Gandhi for the cause of the nation’s unity and integrity will be remembered for generations to come. He also recalled her leadership qualities and her contribution in strengthening the nation. He further said that the best way to pay tribute to Smt Indira Gandhi would be to work honestly for realizing her dreams for making India a strongest and prosperous country in the world.
