JAMMU: Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation Mr. Raman Bhalla today said that strict instructions have been issued to the concerned agencies to complete the ongoing projects under R&B, PHE, UEED and PDD sectors across the state adding that the government was committed to provide all civic amenities to the people at their doorsteps.
The Minister was addressing a large gathering at Trikuta Nagar main market after assessing development related needs of the people during his hectic tour to Bahu Fort, Sheikh Nagar, Narwalbala, Harijan Mohalla, Bathindi, Rahimabad and Kargil Colony, here today.
Responding to the local demand, the Minister said that the R&B department has been asked to immediately start the restoration works of breach portion of nallah out of state plan near Makka Masjid which caused damage due to flash floods during rainy season in Bathindi. He said the work would be prioritized so that people do not face such type of hardship again during next year monsoon.
“Likewise, the R&B authorities have been told to prepare the estimates for construction of parking slot, surface drain near the cremation ground at Gorkha Nagar, right side edge wall of nallah at Sheikh Nagar, besides modernization of lanes and drains at Narwalbala and Kargil Colony in Bathindi areas and submit the same for funding so that the projects could be started after completing tendering formalities.
Regarding construction of interior link road, besides lanes and drains at Rahimabad, W No. 4, Mr. Bhalla informed that the Government has earmarked Rs. 90 lakh for providing better roads, lanes and drains to the people of the area adding that the mecadamization work on link roads are completed and construction work of lanes and drains are under progress on war-footing.
Earlier, the Minister also toured inaugurated a Jewellers show room, in the area.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Bhalla called upon the unemployed youth of the State to avail the benefits of self-employment schemes launched by centre and state Governments. He said that the Government has provided loan facilities on minimum rates besides providing subsidy to encourage youth to set up their own income generating ventures.
The Minister asked the unemployed youth of the State to take full benefits of various development schemes like self-help groups, handicrafts, skill development besides large and small industries which have been mainly tailored to address unemployment problem. He highlighted the role of private sector in boosting industrialization in the State adding that industrialization is the only solution to the unemployment problem.
Mr. Bhalla said for speedy development of rural areas of the State, the Central Government has launched MGNREGA scheme for providing 100-day job to unemployed youth. He appealed the youth to avail the benefits of such type of scheme after fulfilling the set procedure.
