Back from Sadbhavana tour, Baramulla students meet Governor

JAMMU: A group of 24 students from the various schools of Baramulla district, back from their visit to different places of historical and cultural importance in Chandigarh, Dehradun and Mussoorie, met Mr. N. N. Vohra, Governor, at Raj Bhavan here today and shared with him their experiences during this tour. The students were accompanied by three of their teachers and the Army officers who had been with them on the tour.
The fortnight long tour was organized by Army’s 52 RR Battalion under the Sadbhavana Programme which was flagged-off from Baramulla on 24th November and will conclude on 9th December, 2011.
The Governor enquired from the students about the places they had visited and the places they liked the most during the tour. All the students said that it was an excellent opportunity for them to have visited various places of educational, scientific, historical and cultural interests in Chandigarh, Dehradun, Mussoorie and Jammu.
On being asked by the Governor about the careers they would wish to pursue, a number of the students who are studying in the 6th to 12th classes, showed keen interest in pursuing courses in medicine, engineering and defence services.
The students said that in Chandigarh they had visited Mohali Stadium, Rock Garden, Sukhna Wildlife Sanctuary, Fun City, Rose Garden, International Dolls Museum, Museum of Evolution of Life, Shopping Mall and Pinjore Garden. At Dehradun, the students had visited Doon School, Forest Research Institute, Malsi Deer Park, Indian Military Academy and RIMC. At Mussoorie, the students visited Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration, while at Jammu the touring students visited Bahu Fort and other places of historical and cultural interests.
The Governor presented gifts to the students and wished them a bright future.
Maj. Rajesh Verma presented a memento to the Governor on behalf of his Regiment on this occasion.
Mr. R. K. Goyal, Principal Secretary to the Governor was present on the occasion.
