Governor for speedy completion of Kashmir Rail Link Project and Shrine Board – Railway coordination

JAMMU: Mr. B. D. Garg, Chief Administrative Officer, (Construction), Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link Project, met Mr. N. N. Vohra, Governor, at Raj Bhavan here today.

During their meeting, the Governor and Mr. Garg discussed the progress of the ongoing construction of Udhampur-Katra and Katra-Qazigund sections of the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link Project. The Governor stressed the very high importance of this vital Project being completed within the envisaged timeframe, as this Rail Link shall have a revolutionary impact on the economy of J&K.
Mr. Garg briefed the Governor about the status of the construction of various components of the Project, measures being taken to further speed up the pace of work on these and the likely completion thereof. The Governor discussed with Mr. Garg the downstream implications of 75-80 lakh Vaishno Devi Shrine pilgrims deboarding at the Katra Railway Station from around March 2013 onwards and stressed the importance of effective cooperation between the Railways and the Shrine Board. Mr. Garg noted the Governor’s concern and agreed to an early consultative meeting, involving concerned officers on both sides. (KMW News)
