It is pertinent to mention here that in a bid to foil the Freedom March towards historic Lal Chowk scheduled today on December 5, 2016 at 11: 30 a.m. J & K Police has launched crackdown on prominent pro-freedom leaders resistance movement and have detained APHC Chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq in his Nigeen Residence, Syed Ali Shah Gilani at his Hyderpora residence and Engineer Hilal Ahmad War at his Maisuma residence.
While endorsing the call of ‘Joint Resistance Leadership’, Engineer Hilal Ahmad War was scheduled to march from uptown Maisuma which is his strong-hold to Historic Lal Chowk, but J & K Police did not allow a peaceful procession and detained him.
This unlawful and illegal action by J & K Police to prevent Mr. War to lead a peaceful march which tantamounts to interference in the freedom of expression and fundamental Human Right.
A party spokesperson condemned the arrest of leaders in strongest possible words saying it amounted to State oppression and a denial of right to expression. “This highhandedness of the State shows the times we are living in. If one is not even allowed to demonstrate peacefully, it leaves a big void for violent demonstrations,” said the PPP Spokesman.
