Geelani demands probe in Ganderbal scholars death in Hyderabad

Srinagar, Feb 22 (KMW): Expressing concern and anguish over the mysterious death of a Ph D scholar of Ganderbal, Kashmir Tariq-ul-Islam in Hyderabad (AP), Hurriyat Conference (G) chairman Sayed Ali Geelani Sunday demanded impartial investigation into the incident.
In an emailed statement to KMW from New Delhi he said, “It is not the first incident of its kind that a Kashmiri student got killed in any Indian state but it is a series of such incidents which is going on from last many years and till date dozens of Kashmiri children have been killed in mysterious conditions in India.”
While expressing deep sorrow and grief over the death of Tariq-ul-Islam he said, “We equally share the pain and grief of the family and want an impartial investigation into the incidents. Whole of India is proving to be a ‘Death Trap’ for the Kashmiris and they are unsafe in every corner of this country.”
“They are everywhere looked with doubtful eyes and they are either being detained in jails or killed in mysterious conditions. State administration has miserably failed in protecting the lives of Kashmiris in Indian states and despite the assurance, the process is continuing,” Geelani claimed.
Meanwhile, a high level delegation led by Tehreek-e-Hurriyat leader Raja Mehraj-ud-din visited Ganderbal and met with the affected family. “According to the family sources, Tariq-ul-Islam was in touch with his family before his death and there was no such issue which could have forced him to take such an extreme step. They said that he (Tariq-ul-Islam) was enjoying his studies and his studies were in last stage,” a statement from Hurriyat (G) said.
