Srinagar: While reiterating the call for shutdown tomorrow, the Hurriyat Conference led by Syed Ali Shah has called for complete strike on December 11 to protests the grave ‘human rights violations’ in the Kashmir Valley.
The Hurriyat Conference has also castigated the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah for his statement that the five-month long unrest was futile and it even failed to draw the attention of US, President Barak Obama.
“People are urged to observe a complete strike tomorrow (Saturday) against the killing of three youth in Qamarwari shootout and on December11 against the grave human rights violations,” Syed Ali Shah Geelani said here in a statement to kmw. Geelani has also called for one-hour protests after Friday prayers on December 10.
Sharply reacting to the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah’s statement on Kashmir unrest, the veteran leader said that Kashmir issue was an internationally recognized issue. “The Kashmir dispute continues to pose great threat to peace and world community is well aware of its explosive nature.”
If US president had a cautious response on Kashmir in deference to hosts (India), the octogenarian said, it would not change the reality about Kashmir nor was “there anything for Omar Abdullah to blow his own trumpet.”
“The five months of movement has not only rattled the peace loving people in world but also the people in India.”
“Omar Abdullah is no entity before the Kashmir dispute. The issue proved even big for his grandfather Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah, who failed to bury the Kashmir issue despite great efforts.”
Meanwhile, Majlis-e-Shora condemned the registration of FIR in New Delhi against Geelani for “waging war against India.” “The registration of FIR is tantamount to murder of freedom of speech,” the meeting said.
