Srinagar: Taking strong exception to alleged high handedness and atrocities by security forces, the Hurriyat Conference (G) Chairman Syed Ali Geelani today called for ‘complete shutdown’ on Thrusday, in protest against the killing of a youth in Saidpora area of down town Srinagar.
“India is denying political space to leaders and people of the state as a matter of policy. The authorities on the basis of power and high handedness are trying the curb the voices of the people of the state. I appeal people to observe complete strike on Thursday in protest against killing of innocents and unabated atrocities by forcesâ€, Geelani told news agency over phone.
He said the attacks on security forces are a natural phenomenon in the backdrop of the ‘atrocities and state terrorism’ inflicted on the people of the state.
He condemned the firing on civilians allegedly by the forces while calling upon people not to allow stifling of their voices through ‘repressive measures’.
Meanwhile, a caller identifying himself as spokesman of ‘Sangbaaz Force’ also called for a complete shut down on Thursday in protest against the killing of Zoonimar youth.
