Srinagar: Hurriyat Conference (M) Chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq while condemning the killing of 22 year old youth, Altaf Hussain allegedly by forces at Saidpora, Eidgah here has called for complete shutdown on March 14 in protest to what he called a “revenge killing”.
While expressing serious concern over the incident, Mirwaiz termed it as a barbaric act on part of the Indian forces. Mirwaiz while paying flying tributes to Wani said it was due to the blanket powers vested with the Indian troops under black laws like AFSPA and DBB that that they can kill any Kashmiri, at any place, at any time with impunity.
Mirwaiz said “the time has come when International community, HR organisations, Muslim organisations should take strong notice of the bloodshed, repression, and HR violations in Kashmir and take solid necessary measures to address it”.
Meanwhile Mirwaiz has called for a complete shutdown on Thursday 14 March 2013 against this “revenge killing”. However he clarified that the shut down call was not aimed to override the protest calendar of the Mutahida Majlise Mashawrat. “We completely support the protest programme of Majlis. However, in view of the prevalent situation, it has become a compulsion to call for the shutdown”, Mirwaiz said.
