Srinagar: Police on Friday foiled Hurriyat Conference (G) chairman, Syed Ali Shah Geelani’s public rally in south Kashmir Anantnag district.A spokesman of the amalgam told that Geelani was placed under house arrest yesterday and the police didn’t allow him to Anantnag today. However, he said, Geelani was allowed to proceed towards Dooru, Sopore, where his family members had a narrow escape yesterday when  strong winds damaged Geelani’s ancestral house. Geelani’s son, Dr Nayeem, and other family members had a narrow escape when a tree fell on the house during strong winds last night, Akbar said, adding that Geelani paid them a visit in Dooru and returned back today.
