Srinagar, June 29: Four militants were killed on Friday in two different encounters in North and South Kashmir.
A militant was killed during a gunfight in Kachama forest of Kupwara district while two militant were killed in Chatpora area of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
Srinagar based spokesperson Colonel Rajesh Kalia said that during search operation in Kupwara forest area a militant was killed in the gun fight. He said that an assault rifle was recovered near the body of militant.
Meanwhile, a civilian and three militants were killed after a fierce gunfight broke out in Chatapora area of Pulwama district. Over 9 youth were injured in clashes that erupted after the commencement of gunfight. A boy, identified as Faizan Ahmed was killed after he received a bullet in his chest, hospital sources said.
The gunfight also claimed the lives of three militants, confirmed police chief SP Vaid in a tweet.
Meanwhile, 3 soldiers were injured after militants attacked an army patrol in Ahagam village of South Kashmir’s Shopian district.
A police official said that militants fired upon a group of army men belonging to 44 RR who were deployed at Army Goodwill School in Ahagam village. The attack resulted in the injuries of three soldiers. (CNS)
