JAMMU: Ensuring better facilities to the people in every nook and corner of the State is the vital agenda of the Government, said Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation Mr. Raman Bhalla after lunching construction work on 14-A, 14-B and 14-C lanes in Sector-6 including grating facilities, involving a cost of Rs. 9.50 lakh.
The Minister apprised the people that the Government has earmarked Rs. 1.20 crore under Water Supply Scheme Nanak Nagar for digging of deep drill 438900 gallon per day discharge capacity tube well at Sector No. 14 in the locality. He said the project cost also involves laying of water supply pipes in the drinking water scarce areas of 7, 12, 13 and 14 sectors, besides drilling of electrical and mechanical sub-station and civil works. He said with the commissioning of the tube well, a populace of 14630 souls of the area would get relief from drinking water scarcity. He asked the locals not to waste drinking water unnecessarily adding that ‘it is the duty of every citizen to use water judiciously in their respective areas’.
Mr. Bhalla said that an effective monitoring mechanism has been put in place to enforce accountability and transparency in the implementation of developmental schemes. He also underlined the need for public involvement in the developmental activities and said that without their cooperation the objective of the government of taking state’s development tempo to new highs cannot be achieved.
The Minister said that the Union government headed by Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh has been providing liberal funding to the State for accelerating developmental and economic activities.
Listing the measures taken by the Government for improving the living standard of the Nanak Nagar and its adjoining areas people, Mr. Bhalla informed that Government has earmarked Rs. 4 crore for construction of receiving station and Rs. 5 crore for parking slot near to cremation ground at Shastri Nagar. He said the construction works of both the projects would be completed by April 2012.
For upgradation of public utilities in Gangyal industrial area, the Minister said Government has prepared a comprehensive plan costing Rs. 9 crore for upgradation of link roads, power scenario, drinking water facilities besides lanes and drains in the area. He informed that Government has identified a suitable place opposite Kranti Hotel near to Trikuta Nagar crossings for unveiling the statue of Comrade Danwantri. He said instructions were issued to JMC to prepare statue from local sculpture.
Regarding matador services to Nanak Nagar Sector-6 people, he said Government has issued 50 route permits adding direction were issued to RTO to seriously look into why matadors are not ply on the enroute, if the matador owners are ignoring the route, cancel the permits and issued to fresher.
Later, Mr. Bhalla as Chairman Rogi Kalayan Samiti Rajiv Gandhi and LRPU hospital Gangyal chaired a meeting to review the facilities being provided to the people as well as Leprosy patients in the hospital.
MD Dr. Gurmeet Kour, besides medical and para-medical staff and prominent citizens were present on the occasion.
Interacting with the faculty members, the Minister said the Government was making all out efforts to provide best possible medicare facilities to the people across the State adding for this purpose the Government has provided liberal funding for equipping the hospital with latest diagnostic equipments.
Mr. Bhalla asked the hospital authorities to put sign board of the hospital at the entry of the road and also display sign board in the hospital campus.
Regarding blacktopping of approach road to hospital, he said funds have already been allotted to the concerned executing agency and the work would be started within two days.
He said allocations have also been made purchasing examination table, stethoscops, X-ray viewer, savlon bowls, tongue depressor, infant feeding tube, syringes, stomach wash tube, cuscos bivalve vaginal speculum, plastic colour coded dust bins, emergency light, invertors with battery, ceiling fans, ultrasound machine, emergency drugs, TV and LCD facilities in OPD block, air condition and geyser facilities in OPD block besides installation of lights and parking sheds for staff cars in the hospital premises.
The Minister asked the hospital authorities to submit a detailed project report and submit the same for funding so that the facilities could be provided in the hospital.
