Leh, April 18, 2026: The Department of Anthropology, Government Eliezer Joldan Memorial (EJM) College, Leh, successfully organized the celebration of World Heritage Day 2026 with the objective of creating awareness about the importance of preserving cultural and historical heritage.

The programme commenced with a welcome address by Dr. Shivanshi Nehria, who highlighted the significance of World Heritage Day and emphasized the need to safeguard the rich cultural legacy.

This was followed by an introduction to the importance and global relevance of heritage conservation.

Students of the college presented an insightful awareness speech focusing on the preservation of monuments, traditions, and cultural identity. The speakers underscored the responsibility of the younger generation in protecting heritage for future generations.

As part of the celebration, a Poster Competition was organized, witnessing enthusiastic participation from students. The participants showcased their creativity through posters based on themes such as monuments, traditions, and cultural diversity.

The programme concluded with a prize distribution ceremony, where winners of the competition were felicitated and certificates were awarded.

A vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. Diskit Wangmo, who appreciated the efforts of the organizers and the active participation of students.

Overall, the event was informative and engaging, and successfully promoted awareness regarding the importance of preserving cultural heritage.
