Srinagar: Azam Inqilabi, patron J&K Mahaz-e-Azadi, while condemning the repressive fascist policy of Delhi liege lords in a statement, said, “We were awaiting the release of detained leaders like Dr. Qasim, Mushtaq-ul-Islam, Masarat Aalam and others on the auspicious occasion of Eid-ul-fitr. Alas! The tyrannical and atrocious rulers failed in providing respite and reprieve to these jail birds.
On the contrary they placed the resistance leaders like Syed Ali Geelani, Yaseen Malik, Shabir Ahmad Shah and other senior leaders under house arrest.
It were the Delhi rulers who made a solemn pledge and promise in 1947 regarding a referendum and plebiscite in Kashmir. It is deplorable that these leaders blatantly reneged on their commitment. It was a sheer breach of promise. This effrontery and treachery does not suit a Hindu or any adherent of a religion like Islam, Christianity, Sikhism. In fact, Shree Arjun, leader of Pandows, persuaded his followers to take on Korows for the latter’s betrayal. Arjun continues to inspire Kashmiris to remain steadfast in their resistance movement against the Korows of New Delhi.
Delhi sadistic rulers are ideal democrats in India but fascist and chauvinistic in their approach vis-à -vis Kashmir. Their callousness, predatoriness, ravenousness and sceperciliousness renders them more inexorable and indurate while dealing with the people of Kashmir. The valiant and heroic people of Tunisia, Libya, Egypt and Yemen− through their successful democratic revolutionary campaign− conveyed a message to the people of Kashmir. So Indian liege lords should see the writing on the wall. They should, therefore, condescend to take Kashmiris and Pakistan into confidence for a trilateral discourse on Kashmir to seek an amicable and honourable settlement of Kashmir issue.
How regrettable it is that the Delhi rulers display callousness and ineptitude while dealing with the issue related to environment and ecology in Kashmir. The thousands of glaciers, small & large, which adorn and emblazon the mountains of Himalaya from Arunachal Pradesh to Kashmir, are, in fact, the natural safe water reservoirs which, through uninterrupted supply of water, have converted South Asia into a granary thereby guaranteeing the survival and prosperity of one and a half billion people here.
What is the rationale for suggesting the construction of roads and buildings in the mountain notches of Pahalgam and Sonamarg which lead to Amarnath cave? Don’t you understand that the area is highly eco-sensitive? Do you want to clear-cut thousands and lakhs of trees which assuredly guarantee the safety of the glaciers which embellish the area at a height of ten or twelve thousand feet provide water to the millions of people of Kashmir valley through the rivers like Leddar and Jhelum?
Can you visualize the dimensions of the political backlash and whiplash which will follow once you embark on the hazardous plan to facilitate the extinction of these precious glaciers through your politicized yatra programme? So hold back for introspection. Don’t create a situation here where pony owners will be spearheading the revolt.
How fantastic and ludicrous it will be to suggest that instead of two million Muslims eight or nine million of them should perform Hajj even when we know that the Saudi government, despite colossal wealth and the best management, finds it difficult to look after the two million pilgrims; and sometimes scores of them die in stampede. Our all religious and social activities should be, therefore, eco-friendly and compatible and harmonious with the norms of management. So abandon the path of brinkmanship camouflaged by yatra politics.
Environmentalists would want to suggest that (i) thousands and lakhs trees be planted in the mountains which cradle the glaciers of Pahalgam and Sonamarg. (ii) Reduce the number of yatris to thirty or forty thousand. (iii) Complete the whole process of yatra in fifteen or sixteen days. (iv) Avoid pony-trekking in the area. Once the robust yatris march to Amarnath cave on foot they will find themselves in communion with nature and tears of humility will course down their eyes.
This will be state of complete trance, introversion and intuitive engrossment and absorption− the cherished objective of yatra indeed. People believing in mystic way of life visit the shrine of a Sufi saint to achieve the same objective of inward bliss, ecstasy and rapture.
God willing, Kashmir will soon achieve the objective of independence so that people here, irrespective of caste or creed, live a peaceful life free of coercion, exploitation, fear and desecration.†(KMW News)Â
