EC Tashi chairs meeting to discuss various issues of Labour Department of Zanskar Sub-Division

Kargil, Dec 20: Executive Councilor, Rural Development Department, Zanskar Development Authority, LAHDC, Kargil, Er. Punchock Tashi today chaired a meeting to discuss various issues of the Labour Department of Zanskar Sub-Division.

The meeting was attended by Assistant Labour Commissioner, Arifa Iqbal lone, President Zanskar Labour and Welfare Union, Stanzin Munjhom Manju and Vice-President, Mansoor Ahmed.

During the course of the meeting, the ALC Kargil gave detailed information about the implementation of various welfare schemes being executed for the labourers and the work progress achieved in the construction of labour sarai in Zanskar.

The ALC informed that a total of 700 labourers have been registered with the department. She also said that in 2022, around Rs 5,50,000 financial assistance has been distributed among the 71 labourers.

The ALC also informed that the construction of labour sarai is almost at the completion stage adding around 90 percent work has been executed except the furnishing part.

EC Tashi directed the ALC Kargil to finish the remaining part of the labour sarai at the earliest. He also directed her to hold regular awareness camps in Zanskar to educate the people about the various welfare schemes.

Zanskar Labour and Welfare Union President Stanzin Munjhom Manju, Vice-president Mansoor Ahmed informed the EC about the formation of new Zanskar Labour Association and also presented a memorandum of demands and issues of labourers of Zanskar Sub-Division. EC Tashi gave a patient hearing to all issues and demands and assured redressal of the issues in a phase manner.
