Srinagar, March 24: The Deputy Mayor of Summer capital Srinagar Parvez Qadri on Wednesday inaugurated 9th National Pencak Silat Championship-2020-21 at Indoor Sports complex polo ground Srinagar, here.
The championship is being organized by Indian Pencak Silat Federation in collaboration with Pencak Silat Association of J&K and J&K State Sports Council.
Around 2400 players and officials from 30 plus states and UTs are participating in this 8-Day event.
Speaking on the occasion, Parvez said that the Indian Pencak Silat federation organized such mega event in which players from various states of India are participating and we hope in future that in every district of Kashmir such events should be hosted.
He also welcomed and congratulated the participants who are taking part in the championship.
President International Pencak Silat Federation, Kishor Prakash Yewale said PencakSilat is the Indonesian martial art that has been liked by many players across India.
This game is also now inducted in School National Games which will provide a good platform to the players,” he added.
Nuzhat Ara Joint Secretary J&K State Sports Council welcomed all participants and officials who are participating in this mega event and congratulated Indian Pencak Silat Federation for conducting such an event in Kashmir.
Satish a participant from Andhra Pradesh said “I came here for national coaching camp. The weather in Kashmir is so beautiful that we are enjoying a lot we are very thankful to CEO Indian Pencak Silat Mohammad Iqbal sir for holding such an event in Kashmir.
Nuzhat Ara Joint Secretary J&K State Sports Council, Mohammad Iqbal CEO Indian Pencak Silat Federation, Kishor Prakash Yewale President Indian Pencak Silat Federation Secretary General Indian PencakSilat Federation Iqbal Mufti Hamid,, Irfan Aziz Bota Chief coach CEO Indian Pencak Silat Federation and other officials from sports department were also present on the occasion.
