SRINAGAR, MARCH 01: Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Dr Asgar Hassan Samoon today called for proper disposal of solid waste in the Srinagar City and asked officials of Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) to find an alternative space for further disposal of waste in addition to Achen dumping site.
Dr. Samoon said this while reviewing sanitation measures being taken by SMC in Srinagar. He asked the Commissioner SMC Bashir Ahmad Khan to take concerted efforts to make Srinagar city clean and ensure hygienic atmosphere in the city. Dr. Samoon also directed Commissioner SMC to conduct fortnightly meetings with the ward officers for effective functioning of the administration.
He further directed SMC to launch special drive against encroachment of footpaths in the city.
While expressing concern over the use of polythene in Kashmir, the Divisional Commissioner called for taking concrete measures to deal with the issue. He also asked SMC to make all the street lights functional and use energy saver led lights for street lights.
