Reviews stock supply position, power scenario in Valley
SRINAGAR: The Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Dr. Asghar Hassan Samoon reviewed the stock and supply position of essentials, power, water scenario and restoration of road connectivity in the Valley and Ladakh region through a Video Conference here today.
The Div Com sought information regarding stock position of essentials including LPG, Kerosene oil and petroleum products in various district of the Valley and Ladakh region.
Dr. Samoon also reviewed the arrangements being made for Republic Day celebrations in the Valley. The District Development Commissioners were directed to arrange for snow clearance from foot paths. He directed all District Development Commissioners to gear men and machinery for predicted snowfall and avalanches in the Valley and make fool proof preparation to meet any eventuality. He also directed the District Development Commissioners of Anantnag and Kulgam to issue advisory to passengers for avoiding travel on National Highway on January 15 and 16, 2012, in view of expected snowfall on the said dates.
The Div Com also asked the concerned District Development Commissioners to deploy rescue teams and arrange food and blankets at vulnerable points on National Highway.
The District Development Commissioners of Anantnag and Kulgam were directed to mobilize checking squads to ensure proper checking of vehicles carrying poultry and sheep so that only good quality of poultry birds and animals are available for the Valley consumers.
Dr. Samoon asked the concerned District Development Commissioners to ensure adequate supply of essentials and uninterrupted power and water supply to the Shia dominated areas of the Valley in view of Chehlum which falls on 20th Safar, 1433 Hijri.
The Div Com also reviewed the law and order situation in the Valley and directed the SSP’s to ensure smooth and peaceful celebration of Republic Day in Valley.
