SRINAGAR: The Indian Red Cross Society today organized a Voluntary Blood Donation Camp in which 100 volunteers donated blood.
The camp was inaugurated by Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Dr. Asghar Samoon .Director Information Khawaja Farooq Renzushah and Secretary, Indian Red Cross Society, Mr. A.J. Chaket were also present on the occasion. The Divisional Commissioner congratulated the Red Cross Society for such initiatives and stressed on the importance of such blood donation camps.
The Secretary Red Cross, Mr. A.J. Chaket briefed the Divisional Commissioner about the activities being performed by the society .The blood donation camp was organized in collaboration with the technical staff of Medical College, Srinagar headed by Dr. Mohammad Suhail Consultant and volunteers of Degree College, Bemina. Hussainee Khidmatgar Committee and J&K Human Development Society/Ahsan Mankind Balhama.
On the occasion, the volunteers from Government Degree College, Bemina, Srinagar were also felicitated for their notable performances at the Inter State National Level Youth Red Cross Training camp held at Haryana.
The Divisional Commissioner lauded the students for their achievements and exhorted them to strengthen the society in the state .During the occasion it was informed that the work on the three blocks at Red Cross road campus will soon commence at an estimated cost of 13.35 lakhs.
The team comprise of Tanveer Ahmad Malik won the first prize in the competition of extempore speech (National level) and third prize in certificate (Write ups and Plans on find the volunteer inside you International level), Abdul Majid Malik, Zahid Iqbal Lone won second prize in the group singing.
Muneer Ahmad Tantray and Irshad Ahmad won third prize in solo song and painting respectively.
The team was accompanied by Javid Hassan Sheikh Assistant Professor Zoology. (KMW News)
