JAMMU, JULY 29 – Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Dr. Pawan Kotwal today chaired a high level meeting to discuss issues pertaining to expansion and modernization of Jammu Airport.
The meeting was attended by senior officers of Police, Army, Air Force, Airport Authority of India and civil administration.
While reviewing the physical and financial status of the project, Divisional Commissioner enjoined upon the concerned agencies to maintain synergy and coordination to expedite the work on the ambitious Jammu Airport expansion project to ensure adequate infrastructure there to handle air traffic and to provide enhanced services to the passengers.
Deliberating upon recreation of Army assets, shifting of several army utilities adjoining the Airport, rehabilitation of inhabitants of the area, diversion of canals etc, Divisional Commissioner said that the expansion and up gradation work on the Jammu Airport besides recreation/shifting of Army assets at alternate land in Sunjwan is in full swing and would be completed within a fixed time period. He informed that the existing chunk of land near Jammu Airport which was earlier housing army assets/utilities would be utilized optimally to convert Jammu Airport into international airport.
Dr. Kotwal impressed upon all the concerned officers to keep their activities at maximum to ensure that bottlenecks if any can be removed for smooth and time bound completion of the project.
