Director S&TW, Tashi Dolma Reviews Status & Implementation of Mission Vatsalya in Kargil

Kargil, August 01: The Director, Social & Tribal Welfare Department, UT Ladakh, Tashi Dolma (JKAS), chaired a comprehensive review meeting on the implementation and status of the Mission Vatsalya Scheme at the Conference Hall, Baroo, Kargil. The meeting aimed to evaluate ongoing efforts and strategize improvements in the delivery of child welfare services under the Mission Vatsalya framework.

During the session, District Child Protection Officer, Kargil, Samina Khatoon (JKAS), delivered a detailed PowerPoint presentation highlighting the key components of the scheme. The presentation covered aspects such as the implementation of various child welfare schemes, sponsorship programs, support for children in need of care and protection, and interventions for children in conflict with law, alongside financial components under the  District Child Protection Unit,Kargil.

Director, Smt.Tashi Dolma underscored the need for regular follow-up assessments and targeted interventions for vulnerable children. She called for a collaborative and coordinated approach to eliminate child labour and child begging from the district, urging all stakeholders to function as a united team.

She further reviewed the functioning and status of various institutional mechanisms under Mission Vatsalya, including Child Welfare Committee (CWC), Juvenile Justice Board (JJB), Observation-cum-Special Home, Specialized Adoption Agency (SAA), Open Shelter, Child Care Institutions (CCIs).

The meeting was attended by key officials and stakeholders, including Abdul Rahim, Program Manager, UT Child Protection Society; ftikhar Hussain & Nayeema Manzoor, Program Officers, State Adoption Resource Authority, Ladakh; Niyaz Ali, Chairperson, Child Welfare Committee, Kargil; Fatima Zahra Accounts Assistant, Social & Tribal Welfare, Ladakh; Members of the CWC, JJB, superintendents of CCIs, and staff and coordinators of Mission Vatsalya.

The meeting concluded with a renewed commitment to safeguarding and promoting the rights and well-being of children in the Kargil district.
