DGP distributes sports material among SOS Children

JAMMU: Recalling sacrifices of state police during the last over two decades, Director General of Police Mr. K. Rajendra Kumar today emphasized the need of further cementing the bonds between the police and the public which is vital for progress and prosperity of the state.

The DGP was speaking at a Civic Action Programme at Channi Rama organized by IRP 4th BN.
Mr. Rajendra distributed sports kits of cricket, badminton, volleyball, football and track suits, skipping ropes and other sports goods in addition to the notebooks to children of SOS Hermann Gol Gujral and SOS Village Balgram under the programme.
Speaking on the occasion, the DGP said that the objective of this Civic Action programme is to build a rapport between the police and the public besides extending financial and moral support to the needy and poor children. The programme also aims at to contribute in improving the basic amenities in the society to some extent, he added.
Mr. Rajendra exhorted upon the children to take keen interest in sports activities which not only help their physical development but also enable them to become a responsible citizen of the society. He assured complete support to both the schools in their every endeavour for the overall development of the children.
Among others, IGP Jammu Dilbag Singh, IG Armed G. S. Slathia, Additional DGP Headquarter S. P. Vaid, DIG Jammu J. P. Singh, DIG IRP T. Phunsug, SSP Traffic Jammu Manmohan Singh, SSP APCR Jammu S. S. Sharma, other police functionaries, besides school children and teachers were present on the occasion.
