DG Prisons inspects Udhampur Jail

JAMMU, February 16(KMW): Continuing with process of inspection and security review of the Jails, today District Jail Udhampur was visited and inspected by Shri Dilbag Singh, IPS DG Prisons J&K accompanied by Shri Rayees Mohammad Bhat, IPS SSP Udhampur, Smt Rajni Sehgal, Superintendent District Jail, Udhampur, Shri Faizal Qureshi, Addl SP Udhampur, Shri Kameshwar Puri DySP Hqrs Udhampur and Assistant Commandant CRPF. He inspected various Blocks and Barracks housing the inmates.

He complimented the Jail Superintendent and the staff for maintaining the jail premises in an orderly manner. The inner area was found neat and clean. The food offered to inmates was also checked and found to be of good quality. However, some minor changes were suggested.

He walked down the peripheral area where some improvements were needed to augment the security arrangements. Superintendent Jail and Officer I/C were asked to pay attention and SSP Udhampur was requested to provide necessary support.

Certain joint security exercises by the district police, CRPF unit and the Jail officers/officials shall be conducted as per the discussions carried out with the officers. The security and infrastructure related issues were discussed with all concerned and they were asked to address them on top priority.
