DC/DEO Kargil inspects model and critical polling stations around Kargil town

Kargil, April 20, 2024: Deputy Commissioner Kargil/District Election Officer, Shrikant Suse today visited various model and critical polling stations around Kargil town and its peripheries to assess the preparations of Lok Sabha elections-2024.

During the visit, the District Election Officer visited various Polling Stations including Govt. High School Goma Kargil, High School Poyen, Indoor Stadium Main Market, Govt. Middle School and High School Baroo, Govt. High School Minjee, Higher Secondary School Trespone and High School Saliskote.

DEO Shrikant took a detailed assessment of assured minimum facilities required for the successful conduct of polling on the poll day.

He enquired about the feasibility of rooms, availability of drinking water, construction of walking ramps, electricity, washrooms, furniture , selfie point, signages, provision of wheelchair and other necessary facilities.

He added that necessary arrangements should be done at the earliest by the concerned departments.

The Deputy Commissioner directed the concerned Nodal Officers to monitor the infrastructure needs and submit daily progress report.

He added that cleanliness must be ensured. He further directed to remove obstruction on entry and exit points wherever required.

The DEO asserted to provide necessary facilities to the general voters and asked to ensure facilities for old age and specially-abled voters during the poll day.

PO Wages and ACD Kargil, Padma Angmo, Chief Education Officer/Nodal Officer AMF, S.D Namgyal, Assistant SP Nitin Yadav, Headquarter Assistant to DC and Nodal Officer Model PSs Arifa Iqbal, Exen. PHE Div. Kargil, Exen. PDD (M&RE), Kargil, District Social Welfare Officer (Nodal Officer, PwDs), Kargil, besides concerned officers accompanied the Deputy Commissioner during the tour.

Later in the afternoon during meeting at DC office under chairmanship of DEO kargil, detailed discussions held on arrangements to be made by concerned departments for assured minimum facilities at polling stations.
