Srinagar, Mar 19 (KMW): As the curfew was lifted from Bandipora after four days, people at various places of the district Wednesday observed shutdown against the arrest of youth and the harassment of the locals allegedly by forces during the past four days.
According to news agency, curfew was lifted from Bandipora on Wednesday including Hajan Township. As the huge deployment of forces was withdrawn from the volatile areas, people including women took to streets and protested against the arrest spree of youth during the past four days of continuous curfew in the district.
The reports informed that people in large numbers raised slogans against the alleged ‘excesses’ by security forces. Demanding a stern action against the cops, people observed a compete strike in various parts of the district.
It may be recalled that a 17-year old Farhat Dar was killed during the firing by the forces on March 14 during the stone pelting at Naidkhai area of the district.
Deputy Commissioner Dr Shah Faesal told that there was no curfew anywhere in the district today and the situation remained normal. “There was no deployment of forces anywhere in the district including Hajin as the situation remained normal. The curfew has been lifted.” (KMW)
