SRINAGAR, (KMW News): A delegation of the Salamabad-Chakoti Traders Union, Srinagar, met Mr. N. N. Vohra, Governor, at Raj Bhavan here today and presented to him a Memorandum of their demands.
The demands presented by the 7-member delegation led by Mr. Mohammad Tariq Khan, President of the Traders Union, included, interalia, undertaking quarterly review of tradable goods and increasing the number of cross LoC tradable goods, installation of full body truck X-ray scanners at the Trade Facilitation Centre, creation of additional storage infrastructure for goods and warehousing and cold storage facilities at Srinagar and Jammu for smooth supply of goods for cross LoC trade. Other demands projected by the Union included accommodation facilities for the traders at the Trade Facilitation Centre, provision of canteen, medicare and office space for the traders, provision of insurance cover of goods, telecommunication and banking facilities, creation of post of DG Trade and periodical meetings of cross LoC traders.
The delegation felicitated the Governor for being appointed for the second term and thanked him for taking keen interest in the promotion of the cross LoC trade, which had commenced during his Governor’s Rule.
The Governor discussed with the delegation the to-date status of the cross LoC trade and assured that he would address the Union Home Minister and the concerned authorities in the State Government in regard to the issues projected by them.
The delegation comprised Mr. Hilal Ahmad Turki, General Secretary of the Union, Mr. Raja Zahoor Khan, Mr. Syed Khan, Mr. Rafiq Ahmad Wani, Mr. Ishfaq Ahmad Dar and Mr. Nazir Ahmad Ganai.
Mr. Navin K. Choudhary, Principal Secretary to the Governor, was present on this occasion.
