Mumbai, July 8 A local court here on Friday issued a bailable warrant against Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut for non-appearance in court in a defamation complaint filed by BJP leader Kirit Somaiya’s wife Prof Medha Somaiya.
While issuing the bailable warrant metropolitain megistrate P L Mokashi in his order directed him to furnish a bail bond of Rs 5000 and appear in court on July 18.
Local court had earlier issued a summons directing him to appear in the court and upon his failure the court issued bailable warrant.
Somaiya, in her complaint , has claimed Raut had made baseless and completely defamatory allegations against her and her husband, accusing them of being involved in a scam worth Rs 100 crore in the construction and maintenance of some public toilets under the jurisdiction of the Mira Bhayander Municipal Corporation.
During the hearing the court had observed that Raut, prima facie, made defamatory statements against BJP leader Kirit Somaiya’s wife Medha Somaiya.
